Coimbatore : Tamil Nadu Green team lifted the first ever 'Challengers Trophy', an state level cricket tournament for visually impaired cricketers organised by Tamil Nadu Cricket Association for blind held here at the Forest college grounds on Sunday.
Coimbatore : Tamil Nadu Green team lifted the first ever 'Challengers Trophy', an state level cricket tournament for visually impaired cricketers organised by Tamil Nadu Cricket Association for blind held here at the Forest college grounds on Sunday.

With a motive to bring inclusivity and set a platform for showcasing the talents of visually impaired people, the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association for the blind along with Sashoom Charitable trust organised a state level cricket tournament 'Challenger Trophy 2018-19' here between March 9 and 10.
Three teams (Tamil Nadu blue, Tamil Nadu red and Tamil Nadu green) participated in the tournament in which Tamil Nadu red and Blue were qualified to the finals of the tournament. Based on their visual disability, the players were categorized into three group -- B1, B2, and B3.

In the finals, Tamil Nadu red team batted first and scored 93 runs in 17 overs, following which team Red and green team chased down the target in the 17th over with 7 wickets remaining and emerged champions of the first Challengers Trophy.
N. Vijay IFS of Forest college Coimbatore and Ramesh, President, Shasoom charitable trust Coimbatore were the chief guest to the prize distribution. They gave away the prizes to the winners of the tournament.
