Coimbatore : Kongu Engineering College, Erode triumphed in the 13th Tech Hockey League for the Major Dhyan Memorial Trophy organised by PSG Tech Hockey Club at the PSG Tech grounds here on Sunday.
The six-day tournament which started on February 26 with 14 teams from various districts, commenced on league basis. R Ramakrishnan, Retired District Sports Officer inaugurated the tournament.
The super league matches were held on Sunday at the PSG Tech College Hockey Grounds, with Kongu Engineering College, Coimbatore Institute of Technology, PPG Institute of Technology and Park College of Engineering and Technology being the four teams that played the super league matches.
In the super league, Kongu Engineering College defeated Park College of Engineering and Technology by 3-0, CIT by 5-1 and PPG Institute of Technology by 5-0 (total 9 points) and emerged as champions of the tournament. CIT with 4 points finished second in the tournament.
PPG and Park College of Engineering and Technology secured the third and fourth place respectively. A cash prize of Rs.25,000 was presented to the champions of the tournament. S Karthikeyan, PSG Tech Alumni 2003 Batch, Former Captain and Rep. Bharathiyar University (1999- 2003) Managing Director, Aadith Blue Metals, Palani, were the chief guests at the prize distribution, which was presided over by R Ruthramoorthy, the Principal of PSG College of Technology.
