Coimbatore : Coimbatore Men's Volleyball team has lifted the 'Chief Minister's Trophy', a state level tournament organised by Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu at Chennai on Monday.
Coimbatore : Coimbatore Men's Volleyball team has lifted the 'Chief Minister's Trophy', a state level tournament organised by Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu at Chennai on Monday.
The winners of district level Volleyball tournament were qualified to the state level tournament held at Chennai. As many as 32 district teams had participated in the tournament in which Chennai, Coimbatore, Tirunelveli and Cuddalore qualified to the league stage of the tournament.
In the league stage, Coimbatore defeated Cuddalore by 3-0 in the first match. In the second league match, Coimbatore played against Tirunelveli and had won by 3-2. At last in the finals, Coimbatore defeated Chennai by 3-0 sets to emerge as champions of Chief Minster Trophy.
The winners of the tournament was awarded with 12 lakh rupees (1 Lakh rupees for each player). Ravichandran, District Sports officer, M Venkapathy, Secretary of Coimbatore District Volleyball Association congratulated the winners for the team effort.
