Coimbatore : The South Indian Level Weightlifting Championship- 2019 was flagged off at the Nehru College of Arts and Science here in the city outskirts on Friday.
Coimbatore : The South Indian Level Weightlifting Championship- 2019 was flagged off at the Nehru College of Arts and Science here in the city outskirts on Friday.
Around 375 weight lifters from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Puducherry will be taking part at the three-day championship organised jointly by Nehru Group of Institutions, Tamil Nadu Amateur Weight Lifting Association and the Coimbatore District Amateur Weight Lifting Association from Feb 15-17 at their college premises.

S.P. Anbarasan, social activist inaugurated the championship which was graced by A Muralidhaaran, Vice President of Tamil Nadu Amateur Weight Association, J M Fernando, General Secretary of Tamil Nadu Olympic Association, CBR Prasad, President of CBR Education and Sports Academy, Keethanakonda, Andhra Pradesh and S D Ponseelan, President of Tamil Nadu Amateur Weight Lifting Association

G Gunasekaran, former member-secretary of Puducherry State Sports Council and Secretary General of South India Weight Lifting Association and M Tamilselvan ‘Arjuna’ awardee and president of South Indian Weight Lifters’ Association were the chairpersons.
