Coimbatore : Two day sports fest for engineering college women organised by CENTIES (Coimbatore, Erode, Nilgiris, Tirupur inter engineering sports) club has kick started today at the SNS college of Technology here in the city on Thursday.
Coimbatore : Two day sports fest for engineering college women organised by CENTIES (Coimbatore, Erode, Nilgiris, Tirupur inter engineering sports) club has kick started today at the SNS college of Technology here in the city on Thursday.
Around 20 engineering colleges from Coimbatore, Erode, Nilgiris, Tirupur participated in the meet organised by the CENTIES Club.
Events like volleyball, throwball, Badminton, Ball badminton, Kho kho were conducted today. Vellalar College for Women and SNS college of Technology were the two teams entered the finals in ball badminton while in Kho Kho Kumaraguru College of Technology and SNS college of Technology entered into the finals.
CENTIES club was formed on 2009 with the objective “Work towards the social upliftment with sports as the platform”. Thereon the club has been involving in conducting various sports activities and providing an platform for young budding sports talents in the region.
The first CENTIES Championship was started during the year 2010 with two games (Volleyball men & women and Table Tennis men & women) and now it has grown with thirteen games for men and nine games for women. Now 25 colleges have registered for the 10th edition of CENTIES Championship.
We believe that sports field is the place where a man learns the life skills better by dealing with varied emotions of others. It has been a great training field for every sportsman to understand the emotions of fellow human being, where mutual understanding develops irrespective of various social differences.
Where everyone inculcates the habit of respecting, reciprocating and appreciating the ranks of the fellow beings spontaneously without any expectation and hesitation, where the mutual trust develops thus disappears the fear and the team spirit persists. Thus the joy of togetherness stands tall and so we feel CENTIES is very important, says Dr.S.Somasundaramoorthy, founder member of the Club.
