Coimbatore : About 700 students participated in the World Beaters Talent Spotting Scheme (WBTSS) Education District-level Athletic Meet organised by the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu, here at Nehru Stadium on Tuesday. The competition was held for boys and girls of Classes 6 and 7, hosting events like the 100 mts, 200 mts, 400 mts, shotput, high jump and long jump.
In the Boys category, S Mohit of GRD CPF (100 mts), N Rohit of GRD CPF (200 mts), S Nikhilesh of GKD MHSS (400 mts), S Kadamveeswarar of Government High School (long jump), A Mohammed Shahin of Stanes (high jump), S Nithin of GRD CPF (shotput) emerged as winners in Class 6 category. Winners in Class 7 category were Ribil Niyas, Shawn William, Adithya, Mathan Prasath, Shriguru, Karthikeyan, Saran, Sendhur, Sanjay, Musthafa, Askhar and Kamaleshwaran.
Similarly in the Girls category, Keerthana, Absaraa, Aksharaa, Shivani, Mathiyazhaki, Harshini, Kamali, Sahana, Nehasri, Nivetha, Vijayadharshini, Suniksha, Srinika, Sakthi Sri, Manusri, Roja, Subhikasha and Srinithi were successful in their respective categories.
The winners of various events will take part at the regional level meet which is to be held later this month. The District Inspector for Physical Education and C R Anadhalakshmi were the chief guests for the prize distribution. Along with the chief guests, the District Sports Officer Jayachandran also distributed prizes to the winners.
