Coimbatore : The district-level basketball tournament organised by the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu, Coimbatore Division kick-started amidst great enthusiasm here at the Coimbatore District Basketball Association courts yesterday.
Coimbatore : The district-level basketball tournament organised by the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu, Coimbatore Division kick-started amidst great enthusiasm here at the Coimbatore District Basketball Association courts yesterday. Jayachandran, DSO (in-charge) along with the Coimbatore District Basketball Association Secretary, Suresh inaugurated the tournament.

Under the banner of the 'Chief Minister's Trophy' SDAT conducts district-level basketball tournaments for players under 21 years. The tournament is hosting 22 teams comprising of 15 men's teams and 7 women's teams, which will be on a knockout and league basis. The top four teams from the knockout stage will play in the Round Robin league, and the team scoring the highest points will be declared as the winners.

Wings Basketball Club, Rathinam CAS, Passion Pollachi, YWCA, Jaya Bharathi Basketball Club and Golden City Club in the men's category, PSGR Krishnammal Basketball club and PSGR Krishnammal HSS in the women's category were successful on the opening day of the tournament.
