Coimbatore : The Pollachi Volleyball Club and PSGR Krishnammal College for Women lifted the Chief Minister's Trophy in the men and women's categories respectively, at the district level volleyball tournament. The tournament was organised by the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu at the Corporation Ground on Thursday, here in the city.

As many as 17 teams comprising of 11 men's teams and 6 women teams under the age of 21 years took part in the tournament. The first level of the tournament was conducted under the knockout basis and the four qualifying teams played in the round robin league basis.
In the men's category, the Pollachi Volleyball Club with the highest points in the league stage (having won two matches out of three league matches) were crowned as champions while Rathinam College finished second in the table.
Similarly in the women's category, winning two matches in the league stage PSGR Krishnammal College for Women emerged winners of the Chief Minister Trophy. NGM College, Pollachi secured the second place while Avinashilingam University and Government Higher Secondary School, Irugur, bagged the third and fourth place, respectively.
