Coimbatore: Coimbatore entered the finals of the TNCA Under-16 inter-district cricket tournament for the 'Thevar Trophy 2019' by defeating Dindigul, by 9 wickets on the final day of the semi-finals held at the PSG IMS C ground here on Thursday.

Boopathi's brilliant batting scoring 97 in the first innings and 102 not out in the second innings was in vain as Coimbatore's opener B Sachin replied to the visitors' total with an outstanding knock of 214 not out, which helped Coimbatore post 356 on the board at the end of day two.
Having conceded a 168-run lead in the first innings, Dindigul scored 189 in the second innings. Boopathi of Dindigul scored an unbeaten century in the second innings. Dindigul then set an easy target of 31 to Coimbatore which was chased down by Coimbatore in just the 8th over.
