Coimbatore: Deputy Commissioner of Police, (traffic) Sujith Kumar, IPS here on Tuesday recognised and congratulated Coimbatore athletes who brought laurels to the city by winning medals at National Cross Country Championship and 2nd Junior State Meet.

Total of 11 athletes who were trained under Vairavanathan of Genesis Sports club bagged a whooping 14 medals including seven gold, four silvers and three bronze medals in the Tamil Nadu State 2nd Youth Athletics meet held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Chennai.

While Pavithra secured gold in 5000 mts Race walking, Midley Gold in Relay Girls, Sanjay bagged silver in 3000 mts, Vikhashini won bronze in 800 mts, Padma Bharathi won bronze in 200 mts, Sathishkumar secured gold in 1500 and 5000 mts, Gokul bagged a gold and bronze in 10000 and 5000 mts respectively.

And in hurdles, Vishrutha won gold in 400 m, Manikandan bagged silver, Akash and Abilash clinched silver in their respective categories.
Sujith Kumar, DCP (traffic) met the medalists at his office, honoured them and wished them to bring more laurels to the city in future.
