Coimbatore : More than 100 veterans enthusiastically participated in the State-level Ranking Veterans Table Tennis Tournament hosted by the Central Excise Recreation Club of Coimbatore, along with the Coimbatore District Veterans Table Tennis Association, here at GST Bhavan on Sunday.
Coimbatore : More than 100 veterans enthusiastically participated in the State-level Ranking Veterans Table Tennis Tournament hosted by the Central Excise Recreation Club of Coimbatore, along with the Coimbatore District Veterans Table Tennis Association, here at GST Bhavan on Sunday.

The tournament was conducted under various age categories of 40+, 50, 60, 65, 70 years, with a special category for women and open doubles. In the 40+ years category, Sadananda Basu (Chennai) defeated Pandurengan of Chennai by 3-1 in the finals to clinch the title while R Ramachandran from RBI sealed the Coimbatore paddler Selvam by 3-0 in the finals of the 50+ years category. Similarly in the 60+ years category, N V Chandrasekar (Madurai) defeated Ramalingam (Chennai) in the decider. M S Subramanian and Irudayaraj were the two successful paddlers in their respective categories. In the Open Doubles category, Senthil Kumar and Swaminathan teamed up to beat V Kalyanaraman and N V Chandrasekar for the title.

A total cash prize of Rs.26,000, trophies and certificates were presented to the winners of the tournament. N J Kumareh, IRS Commissioner of GST and Central Excise, awarded the prizes to the winners.
