Coimbatore : The Central Excise Recreation Club Coimbatore along with the Coimbatore District Veterans Table Tennis Association will host the 4th state-level Veterans Table Tennis Tournament at the GST Bhavan int he city, starting tomorrow.
Coimbatore : The Central Excise Recreation Club Coimbatore along with the Coimbatore District Veterans Table Tennis Association will host the 4th state-level Veterans Table Tennis Tournament at the GST Bhavan in the city, starting tomorrow.

As many as 103 paddlers, including top-seeded veteran paddlers from various parts of the State are expected to participate in the one-day tournament which is being conducted for age categories of 40+, 50, 60, 65, and 70 years. The tournament will also host the special categories for Women and the Open Doubles. Top-seeded players like Velayudam, Kalyanaraman, Ramalingan, M S Subramaniam and Iruthuyaraj are expected to take part in the tournament. A total cash prize of 26,000 rupees, trophies and certificates will be presented to the winners of the tournament. The best performing paddlers from this tournament will get an opportunity to qualify for the National Level Table Tennis Tournament to be held at Indore from February 12 to 17.

G Srinivasa Rao, I R S Commissioner, GST and Central Excise, Coimbatore inaugurated the tournament by lighting the lamp. Sanil Sivadas I R S from the Department of Income Tax, Muralidhar Secretary of Central Excise Recreation Club and Sankar Manivannan, President of the Coimbatore District Veterans Table Tennis Association were present at the inauguration.
