Coimbatore : A team of nine boxers from Coimbatore bagged nine medals, including three golds as Tamil Nadu secured second place in the overall championship at the 4th South India level Muay Thai Championship held at Ernakulam in Kerala.

Almost 280 boxers from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Puducherry, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh participated in this championship. Tamil Nadu secured the silver medal in the overall tally at the Championship. Nihas Rahit, Nafil, Nalan, Saijith, Riyas, Safrin, Thangarathinam, Vinoth and Prakash from Coimbatore represented Tamil Nadu, securing three gold, two silver and four bronze medals in various categories.
The competition was conducted under various age and weight categories for boys and girls. In the Juniors category, for those below 16 years, Nihas Rahit won gold, Nafil and Nalan bagged silver and Saijith won the bronze medal.

In the Senior Men 16 years 55 kg category, Riyas won the gold, while Safrin bagged the gold in the Senior Women 16 years 55 kg category. Thangarathinam in the 23 years category, Vinoth in the Under 18 years category and Prakash in the Under 18 years category won bronze medals in their respective categories.
