Coimbatore : G Varsha pursuing M.COM IB in PSG College of Arts and Science has claimed her first ever gold medal at Khelo India Youth Games held at Pune, on Wednesday.

Taking part in the 50m rifle 3-position women junior category, she finished top of the podium with 447.1 in the finals to clinch her first ever gold at the 2nd Khelo India Youth Games.
Though Haryana shooter Shirin Goda dominated the table in the kneeling and prone positions but in shot standing series, Varsha gained her moment by bridging 3.8 points gap. She delighted the spectators by beating Shirin Goda of Haryana and Ayushi Podd of West Bengal who secured the second and third place respectively.

"As a shooter, this medal is a piece of encouragement for me. And, I am a bit excited too, as I've got gold in my first Khelo India Youth Games. I aim to create a record in the Olympics with a gold medal and working hard to achieve my dream", says Varsha.
