Coimbatore: The district-level inter school football tournament which kick-started in the city yesterday at the Suguna PIP grounds had about 70 enthusiastic student teams participating in the three-day tournament, jointly organised by Suguna PIP School and the Chennai City Football Club.

The tournament has two categories, the Under 13 years and Under 16 years. In the Under 16 category, Suguna International School beat Chinmaya Vidhyalaya by a scoreline of 4-3. In another first round match, Stanes School defeated Delhi Public School with the score reading 1-0. In the Under 13 years category, DOBBS Public School beat Venkateshwara School by 1-0 and Delhi Public School edged Vivegam Senior Secondary School by 0-2.

The tournament was inaugurated by Sivakumar, CCFC and Lakshmi Narayanasamy, the Director of Suguna Institutions.
