Coimbatore: PSG CAS sports club and United basketball club emerged as champions in the 9th edition of District level Basketball Tournament for Orion Trophy held at Corporation basketball court here in the city.

As many as 54 teams including junior boys, girls, men and women teams took part in the tournament and showcased their talents.
In Junior boys category PSG Sarvajana Higher Secondary School defeated R.L.M School by 55:49 in the finals to win the championship. Bharathi Matriculation School and RKS Kalvinilayam Higher Secondary School secured third and fourth place.
In Junior girls category, Alvernia Matriculation Higher Secondary School won the finals by defeating C.C.M.A school by 58:14 and SVGV school, Karamadai and Mallaiyan bagged the third and fourth place of the tournament.
In men's category, United club defeating YMCA by 68:57 in the finals to emerge champions and PSG CAS Sports Club beat Alvernia Sports Club 59:51 to emerge champions in women's category.
Nithin selvan of Bharathi Matriculation School and Srinithi from Alvernia Matriculation Higher Secondary School were the best players of the tournament. Yuva Bharathi public school and Young Blood sports club were selected as best performing teams of the tournament.
Total prizes worth Rs. 60,000 were presented to the winners of the Orion Trophy. Mr. Gautham Ram, Director Craftsman Automation Limited distributed the prizes to the winners.
