Coimbatore: Sri Jayendra Saraswathy Vidyalaya M.H.S.S has won the fifth edition of the Junior Super Kings T20 inter-school cricket tournament held at the PSG IMS grounds between 24-26 December. Sri Jayendra Saraswati Vidhyalaya faced RKS Kalvinilayam H.S.S in the final clash for the trophy in which Jayendra clinched the trophy by a healthy margin of 58 runs, to emerge winners of the Coimbatore District Junior Super Kings T20 Tournament. Sri Jayendra Saraswathy Vidhyalaa H.S.S scored 152 for the loss of just one wicket in their 20 overs. N D Hari Shankar scored a blitzkrieg 94 off 63 balls with B Sachin 34 not out helping him to post a competitive score on the board. Defending 153 runs for victory, the bowlers of Jayendra Saraswathy Vidhyalaa H.S.S. did a good job of restricting RKS Kalvinilayam to 94 in 20 overs, thereby emerging as champions of the tournament. P Nirmal Kumar of Sri Jayendra Saraswathy Vidhyalaa HSS was the Man of the Match for his three wicket haul (3/15 in 4 overs). The best batsman of the tournament was awarded to B Sachin of Jayendra Saraswathy Vidhyalaa HSS and R Vinoth of Mani H.S.S was selected as the best bowler of the tournament. The winners of Coimbatore District will play in the state-level Junior Super Kings tournament to be held in Tirunelveli. A total of 64 teams across Tamil Nadu participated in the tournament. Winners of each district will now play state-level competitions.
