Coimbatore : The city played host to 120 players from various parts of the country who were vying for the coveted tennis championship AITA TS 7 (All India Tennis Association) being conducted by the KG Ramesh Tennis Academy. The championship was organized for both Boys and Girls categories, under 12 and 16 years of age. Players from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra, Telangana and Kerala competed fiercely for the trophy.

The six-day tournament concluded today, with Vishruth defeating her arch rival Karthika by (6-2, 6-1) to emerge as Champion in the under 12 years category. In the under 16 years category, M Priyadharsini lifted the trophy by defeating Joshika by (6-3, 4-6, 6-2).

In the Boys under 12 category, Akshit Balasubramanian emerged victorious by defeating Shivaprasanth by (6-1, 6-3) in the finals and Rethin Pranav defeated Vishwasenan by (6-3, 6-4) to lift the trophy in the Under 16 years category.

Trophies and certificates were presented to the winners of the tournament by the Coimbatore AITA players, parents team and the KGR Tennis Academy.
Speaking to Simplicity, the Director of the Academy, K G Ramesh said that the tournament witnessed good participation this season and were happy that the tournament served as a platform for many young players to showcase their flair.
