Coimbatore : A young budding boxer from Coimbatore, M Ranjith Kumar studying B.Com at Dr.N.G.P. Arts and Science College has been into kickboxing and winning several medals, including a national level bronze.
His medals tally comprises a total of five medals in the district, state and national level competitions this year. Ranjith worked at a few catering services to meet his travel expenses to participate in competitions.
Ranjith began his journey when he was once enrolled into a summer camp at Nehru Stadium where he was introduced to kickboxing as a sport. Initially, due to his school board exams he could not continue the sport, but his passion toward the game made him pick up the sport again, earlier this year. "I used to practise two hours in the morning and almost spend three hours at the gym everyday. I am in practice for almost five hours a day and travel 30 kms to my Academy where I am being trained by Prem, an International kickboxing coach at the Prem MMA Academy in Kuniyamuthur," says Ranjith Kumar.

Ranjith has won gold medals in the district level and state level kickboxing meets held here in Coimbatore and also at the national level meet organised by Wako India Senior Kickboxing at Kolkata. He also won two gold medals in other marital arts such as Kung fu and Muay thai.
Hailing from a middle-class family, Ranjith Kumar is seeking financial aid to make his dream come true. To participate in the National Level Meet, a minimum of ten thousand rupees is required to meet his travel and accommodation expenses. Currently, Ranjith is coping with the money he gets from his part-time job but seeks financial support to become an international kickboxer. He is also making a request to the Government to provide financial aid to take part in National level competitions.
