Coimbatore : The PSG College of Arts and Science lifted the overall championship in the first Tamil Nadu state-level Inter-collegiate Power Lifting Championship held at SRKV Maruthi College of Physical Education, here in Coimbatore.
Coimbatore : The PSG College of Arts and Science lifted the overall championship in the first Tamil Nadu state-level Inter-collegiate Power Lifting Championship held at SRKV Maruthi College of Physical Education, here in Coimbatore.
The Championship was organized to commemorate the 125th anniversary of Swami Vivekananda's historic speech in the World Parliament of Religions at Chicago. Around 120 power lifters from more than 30 colleges around Tamil Nadu participated in the Championship and showcased their skill and strength. The competition was in various weight categories - Under 53, 59, 66, 74, 83, 93, 105, 120 and above 120 kgs.
With five golds and two bronze medals in its tally, PSG College College of Arts and Science scored 60 points overall in the competition to be crowned as champions. Following PSG, Paavai Engineering College, Namakkal with 53 points emerged runners-up in the competition. The Strong Man of the competition was awarded to Sri Arivazhagan, studying BA Carnatic Music at PSG CAS and V Sajith studying B.Com at PSG CAS.
M Kalimuthu, IRSME, Deputy Chief Mechanical Engineer, Western Railways was the chief guest at the event and awarded trophies to the winners.
