Coimbatore: The Para Volleyball Association of Coimbatore has petitioned the District Collector to provide them basic facilities for the development of the 'sitting volley ball' game in the city.

The petition stated that "The Para Volleyball Association has been taking part in the sitting volley ball tournament since 2015 and securing many prizes at the State and National level games. In spite of good performances in tournaments, some basic practice facilities are lacking. This includes shortage of equipment, lack of infrastructure and financial crisis. Providing these basic facilities would help the Association achieve more in the sport."
The Association has requested the District Collector to provide an exclusive arena for the physically challenged players like an indoor court at the Nehru Stadium, financial support for the players to participate in the Meets and provision of sports equipment and district awards for the players.

Talking to Simplicity, D Prince, the Secretary of Para Volleyball Association of Coimbatore said that the team had won several trophies in the State and National level competitions, including bagging runners in the state-level tournament held in Erode.
The petition further sates, "We are facing many difficulties in practicing and participating in competitions since we tend to meet our own expenses. We don't have proper sponsorship for buying equipment and uniform, for meeting travel and accommodation expenses too. So we are making a request to our District Collector T N Hariharan to provide the necessary facilities to develop the game in the city."
