Coimbatore: The hosts Chennai City FC extended their lead at the top of Hero i-league table by beating Neroca FC 2-1 at the Nehru Stadium, here on Saturday.

Once again, the Spanish duo Roberto (No:4) and Nestor Jesus (No:14) of Chennai FC notched up two goals for the home team which ultimately lead the team towards an unbeaten victory in the league.

Though Chennai City FC took their time to settle, they opened the account by scoring a goal in the 14th minute of the game. It was Captain Roberto who helped the ball to hit the net when the corner kick from Sandro was right on the target to notch a goal.

However, Nestor Jesus missed a couple of chances at 14th and 26th minute of the game. It was in the 14th minute, Alexander Romario passed the ball to Nestor for an easy chance but he failed to notch the opportunity as Mauro Boerchio saved the ball from getting into the net.

Again, it was Nestor in the 25th minute who missed an open chance to score. He was in the no man's land when he received a cross from Alexander Romario, thus he failed to score.

Soon, Nestor took full advantage of the opportunity when he received the ball from Edwin Sydney Vanspaul in the early minutes of second half. He chipped the ball over visitors’ goalkeeper Mauro to double the lead.

In the 66th minute of the game, Singam Subash Singh scored a consolation goal for the visitors. This created little pressure on home team but the southerners were smart enough to slow down the game to clinch their fourth consecutive win of the season.

"We need to improve our consistency and our players are really started performing consistently in the tournament. Hard work from all our players leading us to be in the top this season. The process is very important to shape our team for term. We are learning from our mistakes and I am very happy with the team's performance" said Akbar Nawaz, head coach of CCFC.
