Around 1300 players from various parts of Tamil Nadu participated in the qualifiers that concluded yesterday. As many as 288 young shuttlers who qualified from the qualifiers draw will vie in the main draw of the championship which began today. The championship is being conducted under various categories - singles and doubles for both boys and girls, in the under 15 years category; and singles, doubles and mixed doubles in the under 17 years category.

Tamil Nadu's top seeded players like Vivek Raj (Madurai), Rishi Saswath (Coimbatore), Varshini (Madurai), Nandhana VR (Coimbatore), Kanishka (Coimbatore), Rithvik Sanjeevi and S Eshwar from Chennai are competing in the championship. A total of four lakh rupees cash prizes will be distributed to the winners of the championship.
