Coimbatore: The Coimbatore Medical College (CMC) won the overall championship in the South Indian level sports and cultural events for medical students 'Anastomosis 18,' hosted by CMC here in the city. Participants from 18 medical colleges from various parts of Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry took part in Anastomosis 18. Various sports events such as Athletics, Cricket, Basketball, Throwball, Volleyball, Badminton, Table Tennis, Chess and Carrom were conducted.

K Periaiah, I.G of West Zone, along with B Asokan, Dean of CMC presented the trophies and awards to the winners of Anastomosis 18.

Participants from 18 medical colleges from various parts of Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry took part in the event. Various sports events such as Athletics, Cricket, Basketball, Throwball, Volleyball, Badminton, Table Tennis, Chess and Carrom were conducted.

In the sports events, CMC outshone every other team to bag the overall championship in sports. Following CMC, Thanjavur Medical College secured second place in the competition. Guru Prakash (Theni Medical Colllege), Florence (Coimbatore Medical College) and Karthika (Thanjavur Medical College) were selected as the best athletes of Anastomosis 18 in the best sportsman and best sportswoman categories, respectively.

Similarly in the cultural events, winning almost in all major stage events, ESI won the overall championship, followed by PSG Medical College which bagged the second place. Jeevagaraj and Lincy Priya of Sivagangai Medical College grabbed the Mr and Mrs Anastomosis award, while Sathyanarayanan of Karpagam Medical College won the 'King of Stage' award.
