The early goal from the visitor's captain Amarjit Singh Kiyam did not dent the home side with the hosts changing their formation after the first goal. Post the first goal from Arrows in the 2nd minute of the game, Chennai City FC intensified their passes and in the 31st minute of the game, Nestor Jesus Gordillo created room for Manzi to score the first goal to equalise the score. Chennai City FC dominated thereon and the Spanish duo of Pedro Javier Manzi and Nestor Jesus Gordillo were outstanding in passing the ball between the lines. It was 1-1 at half time.

Arrows missed the chance of scoring a goal in the early minutes of the second half of the game, when Thounaojam Jeakson Singh made a fluffy shot. But the hero of the match Manzi took full advantage of the chance and scored his second goal of the match to take the lead in the 49th minute. It was in the 64th minute that Manzi was gifted with a penalty when Asish Rai of Arrows handled the ball inside the box. Manzi did not miss the opportunity and scored his hat trick in the very first game, on home turf.

Chennai City FC were relentless even after the third goal, as Alexander Romario Jesuraj added a goal to CCFC in the 75th minute of the game taking the lead to 4-1 to seal their victory in the opening game of the season.

Chennai City Football Club will clash against Churchill Brother Goa in the next match of the season on Nov 1, here at the Nehru Stadium.
