35 litres of illegal country liquor seized in Gudalur

The Nilgiris: 35 litres of country liquor was seized at Gudalur and New Hope yesterday. Based on the tip off regarding the sale of illegal alcohol in the district to the District SP Sasimohan, ADSP Gobi ordered for inspection at various places regarding the sale of illegal liquor. Many of these sellers were caught red handed and cases have been filed on them.

Based on the tip off regarding the sale of illegal alcohol in the district to the District SP Sasimohan, ADSP Gobi ordered for inspection at various places regarding the sale of illegal liquor. Many of these sellers were caught red handed and cases have been filed on them.

Gudalur Inspector Shivakumar received a tip off about the sale of illegal alcohol at Aanaisettha Kolli area in Gudalur. A special team was formed under the leadership of SI Manidurai, consisting of HC Ibrahim, Siyabudeen, Home Guard Siraj, Guna and Mani. They watched over the area and nabbed  Pradeep who was in possession of alcohol.

On investigating him they received information about the other illegal alcohol sellers in the area. With his tip off they seized Kalaiselven and Vijay and 16 litres of illegal brews were seized from him.



Following this Sub Inspector Subasini received information about the sale of illegal alcohol in the Chinnea Choondi area of the Newhope Police Station  limit.  They also received information from the New Hope LWE Mohandass and based on this information they conducted surveillance in the area.  A team of policemen including the Newhope SI Ravi, constables Abu, Gokul, Moovin and Govindh nabbed Murugesh from the area and retrieved 15 litres of illegal brews.

Similarly Subesh was nabbed from the Periyasolai area and seven litres of illegal liquor were seized.

Nearly 35 litres of illegal brews were seized in a single day from Newhope and Gudalur.
