Coimbatore: Coimbatore International Airport will observe Yatri Suvidha Diwas 2026 on Monday, June 15, with a series of programmes aimed at showcasing the Airports Authority of India's efforts to strengthen aviation infrastructure, enhance passenger convenience and deepen community engagement.

Announcing the celebrations, Airport Director Mohammad Arif said the occasion would highlight several transformative initiatives and milestones achieved by the airport and the broader aviation ecosystem in recent years.

These include the growth of air cargo operations, the rollout of the Digi Yatra seamless travel platform, the establishment of Flying Training Organisations (FTOs), initiatives to strengthen the Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) ecosystem, implementation of the UDAN regional connectivity scheme, the functioning of the Passenger Assistance Control Room (PACR), the development of a progressive drone ecosystem and the advancement of the Sustainable Green Airports Mission (SUGAM).

He said the event would underscore the crucial role airports play in driving economic growth, regional connectivity, tourism development, employment generation and inclusive social progress, while reaffirming the aviation sector's commitment to environmental sustainability and community participation.

As part of the celebrations, passengers arriving at the airport will be welcomed with a traditional 'Tika' as a gesture of Indian hospitality. This will be followed by the rendition of 'Vande Mataram' by AAI employees and stakeholder representatives.

The airport has also planned a range of public-oriented initiatives, including a drawing competition for children and a career counselling session for college students to create awareness about emerging opportunities in the aviation sector.

In collaboration with government and private healthcare institutions, the airport will organise an eye screening camp, general health check-up camp and a blood donation drive for passengers and members of the public.

To promote environmental consciousness, a cleanliness campaign and plantation drive will also be conducted, encouraging responsible community participation and sustainable practices.

Recognising the contributions of frontline workers, the airport will honour housekeeping staff and women employees representing stakeholder organisations for their dedication and service. The celebrations will conclude with a cultural performance by students of Avinashilingam University, reflecting the spirit of inclusivity and community engagement.
