Coimbatore, June 5: Marking World Environment Day, the Coimbatore Forest Division conducted a series of environmental conservation and awareness programmes across various forest ranges in the district on Thursday.

The initiatives were organized under the directions of the Chief Conservator of Forests and Field Director of the Anamalai Tiger Reserve and the guidance of the Coimbatore District Forest Officer.

As part of the celebrations, the District Forest Officer planted saplings at Karpagam College of Engineering in Malumichampatti and addressed students on the importance of environmental protection, sustainable living, and the collective responsibility of preserving natural resources for future generations.

Following the awareness programme, the officer participated in a plastic waste cleanup drive along the Solakkarai railway track area under the Madukkarai Forest Range. College students also took part in the activity.
