Infrastructure will boost nation development, says Prime Minister Narendra Modi

The govt launched the Setu Bharatam Project on Friday, which aims to make national highways free of any railway crossings by 2019.

Stating that his government has taken a comprehensive and integrated approach for the country's infrastructure, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said the Setu Bharatam Project will boost development.

The Setu Bharatam project, worth Rs 10,200 crore aims to make all national highways free of railway crossings by 2019.

"We have taken a comprehensive and integrated approach. We know the problems and we want to change them with strength, not incremental change. The rural roads have got a lot of resources in this year's Budget and this infrastructure will give speed and strength to the development of India," Prime Minister Modi said while inaugurating the Setu Bharatam Project here.

"Earlier, trains were just announced to please some MPs and get applause, many projects lie incomplete," he added.

Prime Minister Modi said that the NDA regime has taken effective steps to bring a change in the country's railway sector.

"When it comes to roads, we need to also think about facilities for the people and how our roads can help the people in rural areas. The development of roads in the rural areas is a focus area for us," he added.

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari and Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Pon Radhakrishnan were also present on the occasion.
