New Jalpaiguri - Chennai Exp train derails in Siliguri

Siliguri, 09 September: Weekly New Jalpaiguri - Chennai Superfast Express has got derailed near Siliguri Town station tonight.

The train had originated from NJP station at 09.15 pm and barely five minutes into the run the engine of the train derailed at busy Mahabirsthan area ahead of Siliguri Town station. Rest of the coaches of the train, however, remained on the track.

As a result of the derailment the Siliguri-Dooars rail route has got blocked. NF Railway’s NJP area manager Partha Sarathi Sil said that nobody has suffered injuries in the accident and work was on to get back the train on track.

The weekly train, which plies from NJP every Friday night, will resume journey for Chennai once the engine is restored on the track, Sil added.
