A day after Murasoli, the mouthpiece of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) published an article on actor Rajinikanth's advice to his fan club members, the newspaper said it would exercise caution in future.
A short statement published in the paper read, "It has been brought to our notice that the article regarding Rajinikanth has hurt a few good souls. We have instructed our editors to exercise caution in publishing these kind of news in the future."
The article in Murasoli, originally published on Friday, accused Rajinikanth of being a puppet supported by 'communal elements'. It posed questions to the actor in the name of an "innocent fan".
"Dear leader, if your assertion that 'post' was not a consideration in your political entry, why did you announce that [the party] will contest from all [234] seats in the next polls," the DMK said in its mouthpiece.
The story was published under the pseudonym "Silanthi" meaning spider in Tamil in a question and answer format.
Soon after the article, Rajinikanth issued a statement saying no force could separate him from his fans.
Rajinikanth was reportedly upset that the DMK chose to attack him unnecessarily when he was maintaining friendly ties with the party.
A statement from Murasoli was published after Rajinikanth spoke with the top leadership of the DMK.
