New Delhi: Passengers onboard a Jet Airways Mumbai-Jaipur flight faced a harrowing time on Thursday morning after they bled from the ears and nose due to lack of cabin pressure. The crew members allegedly forgot to select the 'bleed switch' due to which cabin pressure could not be maintained.
The incident led the aircraft to return to Mumbai, where the passengers were treated.
An official of Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said that of 166 passengers onboard Jet Airways B737 aircraft (9W 697), 30 complained of nose and ear bleeding and a few complained of headache.
"During climb, crew forgot to select bleed switch due to which cabin pressurisation could not be maintained, and oxygen masks got deployed," he said, adding that all the affected passengers are being attended to by doctors at the airport.
The official said that the crew has been taken off duty and Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has started an investigation.
