Stone pelting incident was plot to kill CM Shivraj Chouhan, says MP Home Minister

Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Bhupendra Singh on Monday made a sensational claim that the stone pelting incident on Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's convoy at Sidhi was part of a plot to kill him.

Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Bhupendra Singh on Monday made a sensational claim that the stone pelting incident on Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's convoy at Sidhi was part of a plot to kill him.

The bus that had Chouhan on board as he was on his Jan Ashirwad Yatra at Sidhi on Sunday evening was pelted with stones. Nine people including three Congress leaders have been arrested in connection with the incident.

The incident took place in Churhat which is the constituency of leader of opposition Ajay Singh. The CM blamed Ajay Singh for the attack. The Congress meanwhile condemned the incident.

The Home Minister while speaking to the media in Sagar on Monday said that a plot had been hatched to kill the CM but owing to tight security it could not be executed. He said that the stone pelting some time later was then resorted to when the earlier plan could not be executed.

Pradesh Congress Committee president Kamal Nath said he does not support the incident but the state government should not do politics over the issue by blaming the Congress for it.

Leader of Opposition Ajay Singh said he is not in the habit of attacking anyone behind his back. "I made a frontal attack on the CM through a no confidence motion. The CM decided not to face the attack and instead curtailed the Vidhan Sabha session to avoid having a discussion on it," he said.

He demanded that the Home Minister resign given that the attack on the CM's convoy took place on his watch.
