Several missing as boat capsizes in Godavari river in Andhra Pradesh, 10 rescued

Several people were missing after a boat reportedly carrying over 40 passengers, most of them students, capsized today in river Godavari near Polavaram in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh.

Several people were missing after a boat reportedly carrying over 40 passengers, most of them students, capsized today in river Godavari near Polavaram in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh.

According to reports, the boat capsized after hitting a pillar of an under-construction bridge in the river.

Meanwhile, locals rescued 10 passengers as search and rescue operations are on.

Fire department, 35 members of SDRF put on rescue missions by state disaster management authority.

Two NDRF teams from Rajahmundry, Visakhapatnam have also been dispatched to the accident site.
