TDP to move no-confidence motion against Modi govt during Parliament's monsoon session

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is all set to bring a no-confidence motion against the Modi-led government in the Parliament's upcoming monsoon session over the demand for a Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh.

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is all set to bring a no-confidence motion against the Modi-led government in the Parliament's upcoming monsoon session over the demand for a Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh.

Speaking to India Today, party leader Lanka Dinakaran has said that his party will give a notice for a no-confidence motion, the day the House will resume for the session.

He also alleged that the BJP-led government is conspiring against its Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

The relation between the BJP and the TDP turned sour after the Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had categorically denied giving a Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh. The consequences of which were, the TDP pulling the plug off the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and also pulling out two of its ministers from the Modi cabinet.

Both the Opposition parties, Yuvajana Shramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) and Telegu Desam Party (TDP) have earlier stalled proceedings in both the Houses of the Parliament during the Budget Session regarding the same issue.

Several attempts were made to bring a no-confidence motion in the previous session as well.

The monsoon session of Parliament will begin on July 18 and will go on for 18 days.

Meanwhile, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan has written letters to parliamentarians asking them not to stall any of the House proceedings ahead of the crucial session as several pending Bills and Ordinances are to be taken up.
