The weather department has predicted strong surface winds from the westerly direction, reaching up to 50-55 kmph, over the Bay of Bengal and along south coastal Andhra Pradesh.

Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea.

Chief Minister of Telangana K Chandrashekhar Rao has instructed officials to be alert and vigilant in view of the heavy rains in the forthcoming days.

KCR has asked the chief secretary to direct all concerned officials to be present at their respective workplaces and coordinate with each other.

He has also instructed the ministers to be available in their respective districts and to constantly review and monitor the situation and provide relief wherever required. Since he requires ministers to be present at their respective districts, KCR has also cancelled the proposed state cabinet meeting scheduled for Monday.

Meanwhile, tribals of Bhadradri Kothagudem district of Telangana were forced to swim across the flooded river due to the absence of a bridge there. A few villagers crossed the river carrying the body of an old man who passed away as he wasn't given timely medical attention.
