Railways provide Train Tickets to South Sudan evacuees at Airport

New Delhi: To enable Indian nationals who were evacuated from South Sudan seamless travel for their onward journey, railways has provided train tickets at Delhi airport.

We have provided train tickets to evacuated citizens in close coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs, said a senior Railway Ministry official.

Railways has assigned special quota for this operation in a number of trains to different parts of the country and pressed a special team to provide seamless services to the evacuees upon arrival in Delhi.

IRCTC has set up a catering and ticket booking counter at the airport, the online ticketing and catering arm of Indian Railways.

As people arrived, they were greeted with snack boxes and garlands and online tickets were booked for them for their respective destinations, the official said.

Tickets have been provided to people hailing from different parts of the country ranging from Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.
