A 14 years old Dalit girl and her mother were brutally raped by unidentified persons in Villupuram last Thursday. Her eight years old brother was also killed by the group.
According to sources, few persons barged into the minor girl’s house in Velampudur village in Villupuram on last Thursday (22nd February) and raped the girl while she was sleeping. They gang also raped her mother who was sleeping next to her. The gang killed her eight years old brother brutally and escaped from that place. Next day, neighbors felt suspicious when none of the house was seen out even after a long time. Later, when they checked they found the family in a pool of bold and immediately informed the police. The eight years old boy was found dead and both mother and sister were rushed to Thirukovilur hospital for treatment. They were then moved to JIPMER hospital in Puducherry for better treatment.
According to Police, the family had some issues with another family from a different caste in the same neighbourhood. A senior police official said that this could be the reason for the attack. However, a special team has been formed to investigate the case. This is the third attack on a Dalit family in Villupuram this year.
