BSNL to introduce 13 digit mobile phone number from July 1

The Government owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) will be introducing 13 digit mobile phone number for its customers from July 1 this year.Currently, all networks provide 10 digit mobile phone numbers.

The Government owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) will be introducing 13 digit mobile phone number for its customers from July 1 this year. Currently, all networks provide 10 digit mobile phone numbers.

According to a statement, the decision to offer 13 digit mobile numbers was taken at a meeting convened by Department of Telecommunications on 8th of last month and the Department has requested all service providers to offer 13 digit mobile phone numbers to consumers from July 1. The statement said that migration of current 10 digit numbers to 13 digit numbers will happen between October 1st  and December 31st of this year. The Department has said that migration to 13 digit phone number is done to offer better security to users.
