The long wait for the Southwest Monsoon has finally come to an end. Southwest monsoon 2016 has arrived in Kerala. Kerala has been drenched in rain for past few days but the Indian Meteorological department had certain criteria for declaring at as monsoon and now they have announced its arrival.
In the span of 24 hours from 8:30 AM on Monday, Quilandy received 84 mm of rain, Aryankavu 61 mm, Vaikom 60 mm, Nedumangad 55.8 mm, Vadakara 51 mm, and Ottappalam 41.8 mm.
They have also predicted that the monsoon may soon hit the Peninsular India in few days.
