Nilgiris, Jan. 13

Superintendent of Police (Nilgiris District) Murali Ramba flagged off the first fleet of six GPS- enabled Highway Patrol Vehicles at the ceremony here in Ooty.

These state of the art Highway patrol vehicles would enable the Police control room to watch the movement of the vehicles using GPS- enabled technology and it would enable the quickest possible response time during road accidents and other such emergencies in the highways.

The mobile phones of the policemen manning the modern vehicles would be attached with Police control room no: 100 and this would enable them to coordinate rescue operations during road accidents emergencies.

“As many as 16 such high tech patrol vehicles would be inducted into the current fleet,” said Murali Rambha.
