Alleged Dhinakaran Middleman In Jail, Cache Of Luxury Cars In Kochi

When Sukesh Chandrasekhar was arrested in Delhi in April, the police said it had taken from him Rs. 1.5 crore in cash along a BMW and a Mercedes that he had bought illegally and was using while in the capital.

Now over the last weekend, tax officials have taken over about 10 uber-luxe cars including from Kochi where they had been parked in what officials described as "posh premises".

The cars weren't too shabby either - they include a Porsche, Lamborghini, Rolls Royce and Range Rover.

Tax officials say they were led to them by a business associate of Mr Chandrasekhar and were bought using black or undeclared and untaxed money.

The 27-year-old remains in jail on charges of trying to buy the party symbol of Tamil Nadu's ruling AIADMK. Competing factions of the party claim rights to the two-leaves symbol, which is easily recognised by voters and is a huge political asset.

When Mr Chandrsekhar, a businessman from Bengaluru with a record of mega-conning,  was arrested from a five-star in Delhi, the police said that he had been deployed to bribe officials in charge of deciding the dispute over the symbol by TTV Dhinakaran, who heads one of the two warring sections of the AIADMK. Mr Dhinakaran has emphatically denied the accusations.

Last month, tax officials seized  a Bentley and Jaguar from Bengaluru belonging to Mr Chandrasekhar.

Seven cops from Delhi were suspended last month for allowing Mr Chandrashekar to roam freely and conduct business deals while he was in Bengaluru for a court hearing in October in a seperate cheating case.

He has been arrested twice earlier and is wanted in criminal cases in different states.
