Man kills mother for refusing money to buy liquor

A man allegedly killed his 75-year-old mother after she refused to give him Rs 100 to buy liquor at a village here this morning, police said.

The accused, Santosh Sen (35), attacked his mother - Girjabai Sen - with an axe around 6 am at their home in Sirsod village after she refused to give him the money, Amola police stations in-charge Parmanand Sharma said.

Later, the accused kept the body inside a room in the house and locked it, he said.

"After killing his mother, the accused went out of the house and told the villagers that something (bad) was going to happen as crows were hovering around and cawing (considered a bad omen among locals)," Sharma said.

On hearing the mans bizarre talk, the villagers suspected something amiss as they were aware that he had a noisy fight with his mother late last night, he said.

Later, when the villagers went to the mans home to enquire about his mothers welfare, they found the locked room which they broke open and found the woman lying inside a pool of blood, the police official said.

The villagers then caught hold of Santosh Sen and informed the police who reached the spot and arrested him, he said.

Sharma said the accused admitted that he killed his mother using an axe after the dispute as she refused to give him Rs 100 to buy liquor.

The accused was booked under IPC section 302 (punishment for murder), the police official said.
