MDMK general secretary Vaiko unexpectedly ‘collapsed’ on the dais while addressing the gathering at Kathiramangalam village today, causing a flutter among the audience.

Those who were present on the dais swiftly acted and caught hold of him before he fell down. Vaiko, however, recovered and steadied himself in few seconds and continued his speech much to the cheers of the people gathered there.
With the agitation against ONGC at Kathiramangalam village near Kumabakonam entering the successive 10th day on Monday, all the shops in the village remained closed, demanding the release of those arrested from the village by police subsequent to the violent incidents occurred on June 30.
