THANJAVUR: Despite lack of adequate infrastructure and other facilities, two government high schools in Thanjavur district have set a sort of record by producing 100% pass percentage for the successive 11th and 7th year respectively in the SSLC exam for which results were declared recently.

The government girls high school in Alathur village in Pattukottai taluk produced centum results for the successive 11th year while the government high school (Co-education) at Kondraikadu village in Peravurani taluk have produced centum results for the successive seventh year, thanks to the joint efforts taken by both the hardworking students and the sincere and dedicated teachers working in these two schools.

“All the 62 girls who appeared for the SSLC public exam from the government girls’ high school at Alathur village came out with flying colours. G Sivashalini, student of this school, became the school topper by scoring 483/500 marks.
Sivashalini has scored centum in two subjects – Science and Social Science – while 97 in Tamil, 94 in English and 92 in Maths.
Not only Sivashalini but a total of 39 students of this school have scored over 400 marks in SSLC public exam. Besides, 33 students have scored centum marks in Social Science and three students have scored centum marks in Science.
“This was made possible due to the joint efforts taken by the hardworking students and the sincere and dedicated teachers”, said S Selvaraj, Head Master (in-charge), of this school.
“We regularly provided special coaching to students studying in Class X till 6.30 pm. To boost the morale of the students, we provided them snacks such as boiled green gram, boiled chick pea, boiled pea and sweet liquid pudding (paayasam)”, said Selvaraj who is also teaching Tamil in the school.
Similarly, the boys and girls studying at the government high school at Kondraikadu village have also produced centum results for the successive seventh year.
All the141 students including 52 girls of this school who had appeared for the SSLC public exam came out with flying colours this year. Kausiya, a student of this school, became the school topper by scoring 477/500 marks while 67 other students have also scored above 400 marks. Besides, three students have scored centum marks in Science, said G Maheswari, Headmistress, of this school.
Maheswari also attributed the success to the joint efforts taken by the hardworking students and the sincere and dedicated teachers of this school.
