Prison warden and his brother held for exam malpractice

Tuticorin: A warden of Vellore Central Prison and his younger brother were arrested on the charge of malpractice in a competitive exam held for selection of Grade II policemen, fire and rescue personnel and prison warden on Sunday.

The 25-year-old Raja, resident of Ramachandrapuram in Tuticorin who is working as warden at Vellor Central Prison, and his younger brother Murugan (21) were, however, let off on bail.

The siblings had planned meticulously so that Murugan could crack the exam with the help of his brother. While examination held at various centre throughout the State to recruit for various jobs, the brothers applied in such a way that both of them got seats in the same examination hall.

Raja and Murugan sat next to each other in the examination hall at a private polytechnic college in Mallakadu. The exam started at 10 am and got over at 11.20 am.

Raja had applied for the exam without notifying in the application that he was already employed with the government. After filling the details in the answer sheet, he exchanged his answer sheet with his brother and filled answers on his behalf.

The supervisors in the hall who sensed something amiss snatched the papers and discovered the malpractice.  After questioning the duo, they handed over the two to the local police.

Following which, Muthaiyapuram police registered a case and arrested them. Later, the siblings were let off on bail.
