TNSTC driver arrested for damaging the TNSTC bus' windsreen by pelting stone


THANJAVUR: A driver of Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) who is on strike was arrested today for damaging the windscreen of a TNSTC bus near Kumbakonam and injuring its driver by pelting stone.

The TNSTC bus was on its way to Mayiladuthurai from Kumbakonam on Monday evening when two persons who came on a motorbike wearing helmet pelted stones on the bus near the four-road junction in Kumbakonam and sped away. In the attack, the windscreen of the bus was damaged and driver Senthil Kumar (44), hailing from Karuppur village, sustained a bleeding injury on his head. Senthil Kumar was rescued and admitted to Government Hospital in Kumbakoanm.

Based on his complaint, police registered a case and formed a special team to nab the unidentified culprits.

Upon investigation, police today arrested Kristen (47), resident of Kottaiyan Thottam near Kumbakonam. Kristen is working as driver in TNSTC and an ousted member of Anna Tholirsanga Peravai (ATP), police said.
