Three fishermen stranded in mid sea off Kodiakarai rescued

NAGAPATTINAM: Three fishermen, all hailing from Arcotthurai hamlet, who were stranded in mid sea after their boat capsized due to strong winds were successfully rescued.

G Arul (29), fisherman, of Arcotthurai, accompanied by two more associates N Srinath (20) and S Vinodh (22), ventured into sea from Kodiakarai in a fibre boat on Monday afternoon. They were fishing a few knots South East off Kodiakarai early today when their boat capsized due to strong winds that blew. The three fishermen were stranded in mid sea struggling for life while their boat drowned in sea. Luckily, another group of fishermen who stumbled upon the struggling fishermen rescued the trio.

On being informed, a marine police team rushed there in a patrol boat and brought the fishermen and their boat to shore.
