TANGEDCO worker electrocuted while attending a fault in electric post

Thanjavur: An employee of the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corportion (TANGEDCO) was electrocuted while he was attending a fault by climbing atop an electric post at Pinnaiyur village in Orathanadu taluk today.

The 40-year-old Veeraiyan, electrician and resident of Ayyampatti village in Orathanadu taluk, was attending the fault on the electric post when he accidentally came into contact with a high-tension. Following which he died and was found hanging much to the shock of the local residents.



On being informed, a police team attached to Orathanadu police station rushed there, retrieved his body and sent it to government hospital for postmortem.

Veeraiyan had not worn the mandatory hand-gloves while attending the fault. Secondly, power supply would be terminated before the staff attended to faults but this precautionary step was not taken in this case, Tangedco officials said.
