Thanjavur: Four occupants including a woman were injured when the car in which they were travelling lost control of its driver and ploughed into a mechanic shop near Kumbakonam early today.
Durairaj (60), resident of railway station road in Muthupettai in Tiruvarur district, along with his wife Porchelvi (53) and friend Babu (40), was returning home in the car after visiting Chennai when the mishap occurred. Allapichai of Muthupettai was driving the car.
The car was proceeding on the bazaar in Cholapuram early today when it lost control and ploughed into the mechanic shop located on the roadside. In the mishap, all the four occupants of the car were injured. They were admitted to government headquarters hospital in Kumbakonam. Later, they were shifted to Thanjavur medical college hospital (TMCH).
Later in the day, Babu and Porchelvi were admitted to a private hospital in Coimbatore while Durairaj and Allapichai were shifted to a private hospital in Thanjavur, police said.
Thiruppanandal police have registered a case and further investigation is on.
